Main Page

Hello!
We are “Education Rush Hour” a group of students who study Bilingual Primary Education degree.  We have learnt about School Organization and Educational Resources in order to improve our knowledge about education. Education is a wide fild in which we can learn in different ways, but there is a special one that some people do not know enough. Technology. Nowadays technology is very important, that’s why we have used a lot of application and technology ways in order to make our different work.  First of all, we chose the name “Education Rush Hour” because education is present every day and we wanted an original and journalistic name.  We have wanted to show that Education is very important, but it is very important the way in which we learn too. We have tried to improve our vision about how to teach, that is, we have learn the advantages and disadvantages about the traditional way in which children learn.

We have experienced a lot of good moments. Ten of these moments are:
1     
      1. Subject presentation.
We were so excited in the first day in organization class with the new subject. Although we were a bit scared because we did not know what the subject was about, when the teacher presented the subject to us we felt so motivated and we wanted to start the work as soon as possible.

2. Eurovision.
Eurovision was a competitive activity that motivated us a lot as a group, since our work was very well done in Powtoon. Seeing how other groups appreciated and valuated our work helped us to join ourselves as a group and to improve. We felt really proud of our work.

3.Game day.
We were really worried about if we lost the game about the differences between LOE and LOMCE. But our classmates, Miriam and Carmela, showed their knowledge and we got a good position. As a group and as friends we felt so proud of them.

Other moments..

4. The day in which we went to the garden in order to record an advertisement about the dark side of text books.  One of the advertisements was about a superhero called “Super methodology” and an “antihero” called “Text book”. We had fun recording it, and we laughed a lot.


5. Our first presentation about TPACK was one of the best moments of this year, because we learnt to express our self and we were able to show to our classmates our work.


6. Every day we have met in order to do the group works have been good moments. We have learnt to work together and to feel proud of our projects.

7. The day Miriam was an authoritative leader, she created a bad environment. At the beginning she got on our nerves because she didn’t allow us to comment our ideas. When we knew that all was planned we laughed a lot. It was an amazing moment.

8. The first day we met as a group we understood each other really well, and we knew that we were going to work together very easily, doing great projects.  Being with them is the best moments of the course.  We have learnt to resolve our problems.

9.  The day we did our portfolio was an exciting moment, because we remembered all the good moments that we have lived as a group and the activities that we have done together.

10. Also, we have been lucky because Mercedes Ruiz (@londones) went to our class. She taught us how to explain better to get children to learn in a fun and original way. She surprised us because we had never seen a different way to teach. Furthermore we had a great time with Mercedes because she did an amazing lesson in order to improve our knowledge about how to teach.

Extras

1. What we remember the most
How nervous we were before the expositions.

2. The hardest thing has been…
Organize, prepare, decide… All the activities that we had to do and also, to evaluate each other.

3. The easiest thing has been…
When we had to do some records, or we had to dress up,

4. The funny thing was the game's day in which we shown all the knowledge we have learnt about LOE and LOMCE. I

5. The most boring

In my opinion, the most boring was when we had to listen the same thing a lot of times. For  example, when we listened about LeaderShip from all the groups.


6.  Something that will be useful for sure...

To be honest, there are a lot of useful things for our future.  On the one hand, the applications that help us to do our works. On the other hand, we have learnt about teamwork.


7. We will no longer use Pearltree because we had problems with the page, and we have other ways to share information

8.  The activity where we have learned the most has been... we have learnt the most with the other teachers that visited us, because they have different experiences of being teacher and we can take that experiences and create new ones.

9. What we should improve in our work for other courses is… get used to work in groups and learn how to relax and organize.

10. What we need to keep for other course is .. all the knowledge that we have learnt in every single activity, such as the contents of each activity and the work with our partners.

11. If we pass it is because ...  we should pass because we have earn a lot of knowledge in this subject and we were interested in improve the information we had at the beginning of the course


12. If we fall it is because ... If we fall it will be because we didn’t understand the contents in the same way that the teacher does.

Activity 1

TPACK

A.- General description:
This activity was the first activity of the course. With this one we have learn some aspects of the education, the pedagogy, content and knowledge.
Since it was the first activity we didn’t know how it was going to be, what should we do, say… we didn´t know anything. The star of that week had to explain to each one of the rest of the groups what she had learnt and understand about the concept of TPACK.

B.- Product:
The explanation of the star was supported by a poster made by her and Elena Sanchez where we explained this concept with three circles with made the fourth circle in order to have a TPACK concept, and we also included different words according to each part of the TPACK (eg, Technology- Mass Media.)

In our case we did a poster with three circles and in the middle of them the concept of TPACK, with drawings and a word related with each circle (e.g.: TPK Mass media) and like this with each concept.

C.- Roles:

Mª Luz-Analyst, Carmela-Star (10), Miriam-Journalist (9), Alba-Boss (8), Elena Rivera-Farmer (8), Alejandro (6) y Elena Sánchez (10) – Translators.

D.- Self evaluation:

Alba Yelo should have 8 because she was the boss of the week and  she focused the activity very well, she told us what we should  do and she helped us in everything that she could.
Alejandro Orenes: This week was the first week of the course and he didn´t know what to do and how to it well. He was the only man of the group and it at the beginning he was a little bit insecure.
I think that the mark of Carmela of this week should be 10 because she did the exposition and she also prepared the poster. She was very nervous and she did her best in order to do it as well as possible.
Elena Rivera: that week she had to do the first pearltree and it was very difficult because none of us knew how to use it and she had to looking for information and saw some tutorials because of that her mark is 8.
Elena Sánchez: she worked a lot, she was the translator but she did the poster with the star and it was very helpful for her.
The mark of this week for Miriam is 9 because she supervised the post of each of us in order to avoid grammatical mistakes improving our own level, and the level of the group. She also did very well the work of her role that week.

E.- Group evaluation:

The group mark is 9 because all of us had worked a lot doing our best, asking all of our doubts to each other and also to the teacher. But I think that the most important thing is that we understand this concept perfectly and we know what TPACK is.

Activity 2

Geoprojections


A-     General description: with this presentation we exposed to students the different three map projections.

B-      Product: The resources that we used was a Power Point, in order to make it easy for students understand the projections, due to while we were explaining them, the rest of the class could see the pictures of the projections and also the pictures of the authors.

C-      Roles on its preparations: 
       In this activity the roles were:
 Mari Luz and Elena Sanchez (Stars),
 Carmela (Farmer),
 Elena Rivera (Translator)
 Alba (Analyst),
 Alejandro (Journalist),
 Miriam (Boss).

D-     A summary about what have we learnt from it
    
    The things that we have learnt with this activity is that apart from there are many projections it is also very important to understand that depending on the things you want to study you have got one projection more useful than other one. We also have learnt how to do a treasure hunt, the meaning of this is that a treasure hunt is a type of game in which can have one or more players, these players will try to find hidden things (articles, locations or places) the media that you have to use for looking for this things is a series of clues.
So for concluding this part, the thing most important that we have learnt with this type of activity is that the media that we use could explain one thing but there are many different points of view, so that's the reason that depending the media you use you will get one point or another point of view for understanding the world.
Before telling the self-evaluation of this activity I would like to make mention of the scores that the analyst put that week. The analyst was Alba, and she put the following scores: Elena and Mari Luz (5), Carmela, Elena Rivera, and Miriam (4), and Alejandro (3). She argued in that moment the marks which she puts, but know we are going to make another self-evaluation.

E-      Self- evaluation:

     From 1 to 10 we start with the marks or Elena and Mari Luz, they have to prepared the power point they decided to show, because they decided that was a good way to present the work of that week so that's the reason they have a 9. Carmela that week was the farmer and she had to collected all the links that we used, and also she gave a hand to us, she get an 8. Alba and Elena Rivera met each them in order to look for the information that we were going to used in the presentation, they also get an 8. Miriam that week was the Boss and she did her work really well because she ordered the things that we have to do, the first day and we worked very hard, because we wanted the presentation was very clearly for the rest of the class, that is the reason she gets a 9 and Alejandro did the work this week, but he does not show much interest in the presentation, he get a 7. So for all these reason that we have presented the mark that we put to our group is a 9, because the majority of us worked hand in hand with all of us, and from our point of view that week was one of the best week.





Activity 3



Dark side of text books


A.- General description

The idea for this activity was to make something that showed the disadvantages of text books and what other methods could we use to teach without their help. When we first started this activity, we didn’t exactly know what to do, because we weren’t exactly against text books. We started thinking about what we could do and then we realized that there were some bad aspects about text books. We decided to make three short advertisements because we thought it was a great idea and it would be easier to understand.


B.- Product:


In the first video we dressed up as villains and superheroes and we tried to show the disadvantages that textbooks presented for children and the advantages

In the second, we made a video about a class in which the teacher didn’t explain the lesson and the children had to learn from the text books.

D.- A summary about what have your learnt from it

We learnt how to get something from a topic we didn’t agree with. For example, we got different reasons why the text books weren’t as great as they were supposed to be and we put them in common to make the three videos. Also, we learnt new ways of teaching, not just the text books or teaching dense contents to children. We all can agree that this activity was very important because we could see different ways of teaching the same thing (with videos, with tales, with games) but not using the most common method.


E.- Self-evaluation:

We would put an 8 for the entire group because we think we were good workers and we made it great.

Carmela Navarro Artés: 7, because we think she worked very well that week.

Elena Rivera Gallego: 9. Elena was one of the stars that week and she did a great job. In the last minute, she got ill and she couldn’t do the presentation, but she worked really hard.

Mari Luz Rodríguez Gambín: 7. As Carmela, she did a great job and her role was very well done.

Miriam Riquelme Gil: 9. She was the other star and she worked very hard too, helping with recording, the performing and then presenting.

Alba Yelo Maquilón: 8. Alba was a great worker that week. She brought her camera and recorded the three videos and then uploaded them to YouTube.

Alejandro Orenes Almira: 1. Alejandro was a bit of a mess that week. He didn’t come to class, and when we met up, he didn’t show up. So we put a very low mark for him that week.

Elena Sánchez Valverde: 7. She did a great job, like Carmela and Mari Luz, and we put a good mark for her.
